Build Your Own Arcade Game!

What if you could build and program your own electronic arcade game from scratch?

With the Cyclone Arcade Game Robotics & Coding Kit, builders create a working reaction-time game while learning how real electronic components, circuits, and code work together. They'll wire LEDs, connect a button and buzzer, control a servo motor, and program an Arduino-compatible board to bring their game to life.

Along the way, builders discover that coding isn't just something that happens on a screen—their code can control lights, sounds, motors, and other things in the real world.

Recommended Ages: 9+
Curriculum: 10 step-by-step lessons
Video Instruction: 2.5+ hours
Project Duration: 10–20 hours
Coding: Block-based and text-based
Works With: Windows PC, Mac, or Chromebook

Learn Coding, Circuits & Electronics

Cyclone is designed to take builders beyond simply assembling a project. Builders progressively build and program different parts of the game while learning:

  • Arduino-compatible programming
  • LEDs and digital outputs
  • Buttons and digital inputs
  • Servo motors
  • Buzzers and sound
  • Breadboards and electronic circuits
  • Variables, loops, and conditional logic
  • Subroutines/functions
  • Timing and game logic
  • Troubleshooting and debugging

By the end, builders combine what they've learned to create a working Cyclone-style arcade game they can actually play.

What's in the Kit?

Everything needed for the electronics and robotics portion of the project is included:

  • Arduino-compatible Uno R3 programmable board
  • USB programming cable
  • 9g servo motor
  • Passive buzzer
  • 8 LEDs with built-in resistors
  • 7.5V battery holder
  • 20 pin-to-pin jumper wires
  • 300-tie breadboard
  • Building materials for the Cyclone game

Free Step-by-Step Online Curriculum

Every Cyclone kit includes access to our free online learning portal, featuring 10 step-by-step lessons and more than 2.5 hours of guided video instruction.

Instead of simply giving builders finished code to copy, the curriculum walks them through the project one concept at a time. Builders learn how individual components work, test their programs, troubleshoot problems, and gradually combine everything into their finished arcade game.

Builders can follow the lessons at their own pace at home, in the classroom, or as part of a STEM program.

Build It. Code It. Play It.

Once builders finish building their Cyclone game, the learning doesn't have to stop.

Builders can experiment with the code to change the speed, timing, sounds, difficulty, or behavior of their game. More advanced builders can invent new rules, challenges, and modifications of their own.

The finished arcade game becomes a starting point for continued experimentation—not just the end of the lesson.

Great for Classrooms, Homeschool & STEM Programs

Cyclone works well for:

  • Robotics and STEM classrooms
  • Homeschool
  • Makerspaces
  • After-school programs
  • STEM camps
  • Libraries
  • Enrichment programs

Builders can work independently or collaborate in small groups, making the project flexible for both individual learning and group environments.

Great Project

My 11-year-old son loved this project and so did I. We had a lot of fun working on it together. It was great to see his face light up every time the game did what his code asked it to do. Magic.
